5.0 out of 5 stars Works with my Nex 5, 10 July 2010
This review is from: Wireless IR Infrared Remote Control for Sony Alpha A7, A7r, NEX-7, NEX-6, NEX-5T,NEX-5n,NEX7,A33,A55,A57,A65,A77,A99,A230,A290,A330,A380,A390,A450,A550,A580,A700,A850,A900,DSLR as IRMT-DSLR1 (Accessory)
Having just purchased a Nex 5 I wondered if this would work for my new camera as it isn't in the listed models.

Jolly pleased to report that it does the job. You do have to be fairly near (<3m) the camera, but in most instances this isn't a problem for me. I'm not sure if that is the remote or the Nex, as I haven't compared it to the Sony one. It is an utter bargain compared to what Sony are charging for their one, so I'm a happy bunny.

Note if you have an Nex 3 that this won't work - as the Nex 3 doesn't have remote capability (Sony kept this very quiet, but it's true.)

hey there, I'm just wondering how the remote works if you set the shutter speed to BULB setting, can you kindly test it out for me before I buy it?
I'm thinking about really long shutter speed shots and the ability to do that without physically contacting the camera (shutter release button).
Thanks :)

Use this to program the keys (any) a a DORO learning remote! Then the Doro will trigger much, much further, even by bouncing the signal of walls and the Doro buttons are much moor positive.

Initially, due to my ignorance, I stated that this remote didn't work - it does. The setting within the camera needs to be selected before the control will work.

In the Menu select as follows:
'Camera' -> 'Drive Mode -> 'Remote Cdr.'

P.S. If you do buy this remote on the off-chance, be aware that the battery needs to be activated via the removal of a small plastic tab.
