This review is from: Grammatical Man: Information, Entropy, Language and Life (Hardcover)
I gave my first copy of this book away to a friend. Over the past few years I have pondered the book's description of life as information and find I am convinced of its fundamental importance. The way life seems to oppose the thrust of entropy just as human culture seems to counteract the effect of natural selection demands serious reflection.
While a student at college I had dismissed Shannon's ideas on information as too simple to help with the understanding of human communication. This book gave me the excitement of being shown the error of my ways. How many books give you that sort of pleasure? I recommend this book wholeheartedly.
When I have reread the book I may add to this review.
