The definitive video games guide!,
This review is from: The Video Games Guide (Paperback)
I recently bought Matt Fox' "Video Games Guide" and I can honestly say, it's super! A must! His approach works so much better : I love to read one person's opinion. Encyclopedias tend to give you very much info, but they forget the personal aspect. Fox was not afraid to call a game 'a stinker' when needed. How many books can do that?
I'm mainly a Nintendo-fan. His review of "Ocarina Of Time" filled my heart with joy.
Fox' enthusiasm is endearing. After reading his book, I felt the need to pick up a PlayStation2. If only to play "Ico", "God Of War" and "Shadow Of The Colossus". Yes, that's how captivating "The Video Games Guide" is!
What's more : you don't need to finish the book in one go. I find myself going back each time I've bought a new, second-hand game. Just to see whether it's included and/or if the author likes it.
One minor complain : he bashed "Outlaws", but I loved the demo. Yes, the demo. Ever since "Outlaws" was released, I've been trying to pick up a copy. To no avail, sadly.
In all : a job very well done, Mr. Fox. Your work will inspire me and other children for years to come!

I can't believe he bashes Outlaws! I had a copy years ago and it was a 5 star game.
