Customer Review

on 13 February 2014
If I would buy 1 hardcover comic this year this would be it.This revamp is just as exciting to me as reading the original X-O Manowar comics of the 90's.

I will admit I was a bit let off not seeing the spider aliens in issue #1 I was disappointed, but then I read it again. And saw how cool the Vine were. They make a perfect villain.Raising people for food like the spider aliens was bad but forcing people to work just so they can worship plants and not do anything but let them rot and raise more(and work endlessly) with no purpose or goal to me that's worse.

Aric (Visigoth)who gets captured on a raid against the vine(who Aric and the other Visigoth thought were Romans)they were put into slavery and forced to grow plants endlessly. He tried to escape but had his hand cut off.For years he worked one handed planting weeding and growing plants with no purpose other then the vine worshiping the plants.

This all ended when he planned a slave revolt and stole the Vines most powerful weapon and artifact- the x-o armor. He disabled the craft that was his prison for years and came back to earth 1,600 years later.Everything and everyone he knew is gone.

Before he can do anything a group of human soldiers sent by the vine along with one of their plantings Alexander Dorian attack X-O Manowar in the Amazon. They are quickly dispatched except for Alexander who is tortured.,Next the Vine call in the most proficient weapons expert on earth (Ninjak)whose poison darts render Aric helpless. All plantings on earth will go back to Loam (the Vine's home planet)The Vine council order the eradication of all human life on Earth but Alexander trys to get them to see reason but it falls on deaf ears.Alexander however has grown accustomed to the pleasures of Earth. He feels he is more like human then vine so he frees x-o.Aric and ninjak battle but through ninjaks eavesdropping equipment & listening to Arics talk with Alexander about his staying on earth. He teams up with them to stop the invasion but what can even 2 warriors to do against powerful vine planting and an invasion force coming..Now an invasion fleet of the Vine plans to wipe all humans from existence because they feel that Aric ,a human should not have bonded with their sacred armor which is the ultimate outrage to them.

To find out info on Aric they torture his friend Gafti, pluging him to machines.Meanwhile the Manowar armor bonds more with Aric allowing him to enter the Gathering(a sort of mental chatroom that Vine communicate to other Vine in). That infuriates the Vine councel even more.

The invasion starts and Commander Trill and a group Of Vine in commando class armor start the invasion their mission to either capture the x-o armor and kill Aric or destroy them both. When the attack doesn't work Trill has a secret weapon the broken Gafti .Trill orders Aric out of the armor in exchange for Trill not to kill Gafti. He does it but then tell Aric that he will kill the entire human race.Trill then blasts Gafti with a laser and gloats a bit telling Aric he will smap his spine.

What is the Final fate of Gafti? Will the Vines invasion of Earth and destruction of the human race happen? What will happen after that? Buy this book and find out!!
