This review is from: Morphy Richards PerformAir Endurance 71078 Family and Pets Bagless Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner 2100 Watts (Kitchen & Home)
Before I made my purchase, I read all the Amazon reviews for this product and many, many others. I hesitated at buying a vac online but how else? (All vacs these days come in a box.) And, I confess, I thought, 'Morphy Richards? All those stars? How can that be?' (Brand-brainwashed.) However, I was looking to replace a still-under-warranty Dyson that is rubbish at picking up pet hair, so I took a chance on the good reviews and was pleased from the moment I tried it. This machine doesn't even frighten the two very long-haired beasties who shed all over the house, although they do have the good sense to lumber to another room when it's on.
Comments on other reviews: It's big. Not huge, but I'll have to rethink where I store everything in order to make space for it. Takes up more floor space than an upright, plus hose, plus tube, plus attachments. They could/should have designed it smaller for European homes. I expected 'loud', but think it's actually quieter than the Dyson. It whirrs. I expected 'heavy'. It's not light, but follows me from room to room with no problems at all. I wouldn't want to haul it up and down stairs, but could. I like how some of the attachments store in a drawer underneath. I found it easy to empty--I have to pull pet hair out of the Dyson canister, too, so that wasn't a problem for me.
The best bits: I like the Turbo attachment. After one vac of the recently vacuumed living room, the carpet not only looked clean, but a little better, ie not mashed down. The edge-to-edge pickup works well. The tube extends smoothly to the right length and locks in place (great design). Suction can be adjusted on the vac and on the tube. (I used the mid-level vac setting to start.) I gave the whole house a quick once-over and emptied the canister to find not just pet hair, but also a surprising amount of dirt the Dyson missed. After vacuuming, I did have to snip some long hair (not much) wrapped around the roller brush, which was easy with the attachment. (Try turning a Dyson upright upside down to do that.) Maybe it should only be four stars--it's not perfect--but I am so happy and no longer regard daily vacuuming as an odious chore. That's well worth five stars to me.
