Having enjoyed playing Torino 2006, I was very much looking forward to playing this Winter Olympic game on Xbox 360. After my dissapointment to majority of fast button pressing gameplay on Beijing 2008, I was curious to see how SEGA would do with this one. and I have to say, they have done a great job in making this game!
First, graphics and sound in the game is absolutely fantastic. It is pretty much very accurate to the venues you see on tv and you do get the sense of being there... but only down side in terms of sound I would say is that there are no commentaries.- No big deal, but I think it would have added a little more authenticity to the game.
Secondly, this game is very easily accessable. What I mean by that is it's an easy going game and you can easily pick up and play with light headed.
Gameplay is also good fun as well, each sporting events providing you with different game experience. And you do find your self keep coming back for more, especially after watching some of the sporting events on tv.
However on the downside, I just feel that the game is lacking the depth. There is a practidce mode, challenge mode and an Olympic mode where you can compete for the medal but you don't even see the medal it self in the game, after you finish on top 3... In addition to this, I just wish there were more sporting events in the game. Especially something like moguls would have been fun and adding biathlon would have been nice too, which would have added more variety and depth to the game.
Despite the negatives I have just mentioned, this game is great fun and certainly different events keeps you entertained.
Must buy if you are a huge sports/olympics fan like myself and I highly recommend you to play this game during the Olympic season, where Olympic atmosphere and spirit is high which will make the game more enjoyable.
so, buy, play and go for gold!
