One Of The Most Underrated Bands Ever,
This review is from: Killer (Audio CD)
Having just taken to writing a few reviews, this one was an absolute must. I've had this album for almost 40(!) years, and it is one of the all-time greats. This band really was one of the greatest ever, and, along with their songwriting capabilities, they have never been given their due recognition. In my view they are up there with David Bowie and Marc Bolan as the other two standout acts from this era. There is not a duff track here (although the title track has never been one of my favourites), but standouts for me are Halo of Flies and Desperado. Along with the slightly weaker School's Out and Love It To Death albums, this album represents the pinnacle of Alice's creative achievement (although just to show that the man hasn't lost it completely, check out the version of Billion Dollar Babies on Youtube, recorded this year I think, at the 100 club with Johnny Depp on guitar, remarkable!!).

Mr. Philip Baird says:
Couldn't agree more, and this was their finest hour on record. What a band they were, trashy, sleazy, but really talented too, and they wrote some great material. They would have been fantastic live. One of the first American proto-punk bands (most of whom were better than the mid-seventies UK variety) and I reckon the single Elected from 1973 is more intelligent and better than anything the Sex Pistols recorded several years later. One of my favourite ever LP covers too ! Really enjoy your reviews by the way, keep writing them....
