Customer Review

on 16 May 2012
Ill start this with some very minor positives before delving into the heart of the negatives. Hurrah.
Positives: the cutscene graphixs look great, lots robots, lotsa fighting. You load it up and are treated to two epic looking cutscenes, "great" you think, "this will be a good game". no. unfortunatley it wont =/.
(thats really it for the positives btw o_O...)

So lets assume two things, one, you got this because it had robots, two you got this because it had full campaign co-op.
-The game graphixs, are very meh, they arent the worst ive seen, but they are in no way the best, they work, and wouldnt really get a mention, but compared to the cutscenes they look shoddy and boring.

Campaign Negatives:
-When trying to play a random online game you have NO choice at all, you will be thrown into a random level, with random players, it could be as was my case a level very late in the game right before a boss fight, if you dont like your weapon? tough. If you wanted a different level on easy? tough, you can try hosting your own game, but good luck getting players.
- Offline. AI bots will not follow you, and will rarely heal you, the one time one healed me was when i didnt need it and during a boss fight. If you are playing for trophies (more on that later -.-) then one of the boss levels is made so much harder due to AI running away from you and not helping, this game is aimed at people with two buddies in mind, not for soloists and not for random onliners.

MP Negatives:
Lets start, by stating that this is, b far, the single worst mp ive had the misfortune to play.
servers are a HUGE part of this.
-You get 0 choice as to what lobby you join, now you might think "well thats no real big deal is it?" to an insane degree. You WILL get placed in a game where people either have so much better internet than you you lag, or where one jerk has so bad internet EVERYONE lags. Now, this results in either you jumping all around the screen, popping up at random places in the map and having 0 control over your actions, or your enemies teleporting around the place. Now, in most cases this results in them shooting the crap out of you when you literally cant see them on your screen, or you being unable to target them and as such dying, as they do not experience the lag.
Now your thinking "hold on, this cant happen THAT often", im afraid that it does. Ive played games where ive quit out of sheer insanity of lag, to try and find another game, and be thrown right back in, THIS IS NOT FUN. And, when this doesnt happen you could literally wait 5 minutes just searching for a game, sometimes it will close the search box after 4 seconds for no reason, sometimes it will just keep looking, yet if you close the search and start a new one it will state there are 3 games available, but you dont get to choose which, oh no if you do get in it will be the worst it can possibly make it. Sometimes as ive experienced several times today it will simply open the search box to close it straight away, you cannot fix this.
The MP itself is boring, boring classes and folk with better internet win. you cannot report this, you cannot complain. Someone will usually win with 90% of the kills, taking no damage and kill everyone with a single mg round each (and no really, this has happened so many times...). Now the cynic in me, tells me these are jerks that KNOW they are causing annoyance and anger in people that want trophies, and dont care and continue playing, ive had the misfortune to encounter several on a daily basis.

Now you might think ok so ive got a game, no ones lagging that badly, im doing decent. Hey,guess what. It will kick you. It randomly kicks me from 80% of the games, either that or "The leader has quit". And with no server migration you're back on the main menu, but the search is MUCH more likely to be broked now, have fun ^_^.

Not only this it takes an age to get the mp trophies, you just want it to end, but it keeps going... total grindfest made much, much worse.

Special mention: Not sure if this is just mine but i cant see how it could be. the ONLY mode i could pick is Team Death MAtch, i try to load any of the other generic modes and it crashes my PS3.

Whatever your worst mp exerience is, this is so much worse.

Escalation: Hoarde mode with robots.
Negatives: in one game of this, 70% of my kills were stolen by one player, 20% by another. Without exagerating it gave one guy the majority of the kills in the game, iregardless as to how many times we shot them he almost always somehow got the kill, and as such hoarded all the points. making it MUCH harder to play, this mode is not fun, when everyone dies it boots you from the game, or sometimes simply to the menu, which has very similar problems to the mp. People play this for the trophies, that is all. It MIGHT be remotley decent with 3 buddies 4 mics and similar internets, this was not the case.

Mute: Yeah, just a note, no mute controls. Had one idiort spout gibberish for about 20 minutes in an escalation game, eventually i stepped in and told her(could be a 7 year old boy idk) to sthu and turned my chat volume down, which was on my headphone, they continued talking for about 20 minutes straight, sucks to be the other team mates.

In short DO NOT BUY THIS. The sheer fact amazon are still charging £18 for this is insane, the only reason you should buy this, is if you yourself are making a game and want to see how not to do mp.
I initially was not going to buy the sequal due to no co-op, now thanks to replaying to mop up trophies I will wait much longer.

Anyone that denies ANY of the statements i have made either work for Highmoon, are a complete fanboy, have never played it , are a troll , want attention or havent played any other game in their life (or did co-op campaign with 3 buddies, didnt touch mp and didnt try to find a campaign game online, any unhelpful review votes reflect this). A Disgusting Basterdisation of a game.
