I have just tried this razor for the first time and I must say I am very impressed! I normally use Merkurs Progress razor with I thought was great, but the quality of the slant feels somewhat better (that is not to knock the progress as that is a beautifully crafted piece of German engineering and design). Having the longer handle than the standard slant it is somewhat easier to handle when shaving and the knurling on the handle (barber-pole design) means it doesn't slip through your fingers when soapy half so much as the smoother finish on the progress, and the weight as was stated by the previous reviewer actually helps as you let the weight of the razor do the shaving for you.
It must be said though, if you are new to using a double edged safety razor you would be wise to opt for the Merkur Progress as this is an adjustable razor so you can opt for a safer cut until you feel more confident and up the setting somewhat. I only say this because it would be a shame to go straight for the slant and wind up with a face like a slaughtermans apron, you have to bear in mind that the reason this razor is so effective is that the head of the razor is of a twisted design to slant the razor blade so that its actually slices through your beard rather than chop as every other wet shave razor does and this baby isnt taking any prisoners, if you don't pay attention she's likely to up and bite you. If you are careful or maybe a little older and are familiar with DE razors you are gonna be thrilled with the superb quality of the shave and the build of this razor, if not go for the Merkur Progress that too is a beauty.
