Customer Review

on 16 April 2006
Being a Tomb Raider fan since day one I am the first to admit that Lara has had her gaming short falls but I can most assuredly confirm that Legend is NOT one of them. There are so many new features that will keep you wanting to play over and over again (which is necessary considering the shorter length of the game).

AOD saw Lara as a tricky character to handle but legend sees a much fluid control of Ms Croft as no longer is precise jumping and lining up for your massive leaps required as nine times out of ten Lara will hit her mark first time. Even if you are slightly out a special extra grab can be performed to stop her from plummeting to her broken-back doom!!!

A wonderful gripal is added allowing you to move and swing from objects and attack villians as well as a pair of binoculars that have a special mode allowing you to pinpoint objects that can be used in puzzles.

Level Design

The levels are beautifully crafted and although they are a lot more linear than previous games, menaing less level exploration and free roaming, they are made extra involving through the additon of icon hunts in which you must uncover bronze, silver and gold icons hidden around the level. These unlock secrets and extras within the game.

You can also select between 3 difficulties for each level and revist them for time trials and extra hunts.

Also we see a return to Lara's Manor which is simply the best yet, a puzzle solving level in itself!!!

Apart from charcter bios, weapon inhancements and level objects you can gain new outfits for lara by finding icons and completing levels. This can be worn around her manor or in replays of past levels, very fancy!!!!!

The most important aspect and one of the best in the Tomb Raider series investigating a artifact linked to the death of Lara's mother, its sad stuff I'm afraid!!! You also recieve the occansional comment upon the road from two charcters back at Croft Manor, although usually usless banter I couldn't help bursting out laughing at a few remarks especially ones by a floppish English character!!!!

Well a few...

You can only hold two guns at a time, one of which is your automatic pistols and you can only carry 3 health kits at a time, not good for a accident prone gamer like myself.

All in all this is a MUST for hardcore Tomb Raider fans and a great intro to the series for those Lara virgins!!!!
