Isn't it a shame that in the UK we have to wait for companies in the US to release definitive versions of our own classic Brit cult movies? This film has long been unavailable in the UK. I believe it had a single showing on ITV in the late seventies, and has never been heard of since. Various bootlegs have shown up of course, and a few foreign releases have appeared, but have been cut.
But now, we have this Blu-Ray, and what a superb package it is.
The film itself is available as the normal release as seen in UK cinemas ( which was trimmed of some of the more violent imagery ), as well as the very nasty Euro cut of the film, which has an incredibly strong murder sequence of a prostitute, and is quite shocking for a film made in 1967.
The picture quality is simply gorgeous on this release. The film is bright and bold, and blemish free. Amazing that something shot cheaply over 40 years ago can look like it was filmed yesterday.
Also in the package are a load of wonderful extras, with commentaries and interviews with some of the surviving cast, and a large collection of promotional trailers and poster art material.
A truly superb release of a forgotten classic of nasty UK independent cinema.
