This review is from: Rainforest Animals (World of Wonder) (Hardcover)
Books where author and illustrator are the same person often have a special harmony and this is the case here: appealing labelled pictures of the rainforest creatures are supported by a clear written text for the 5-7 age group. Acetate pictures which can be lifted by young readers to show vibrant close-ups of animals in their habitat. This book, from the `World of Wonder' series, is organised around questions `What is a rainforest?' `Do fish live in rainforests?' `Can frogs live in trees?' - the written text is an inviting introduction to the report genre. The last question `Will there always be rainforests?' allows the author to explain the troubling environmental issues; rainforests will be destroyed if we do not control tree clearance to plant crops or build towns.
