Easy to use, motivational, helpful and can be quite fun...,

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The Withings Wi-fi Body Scale is a high-tech set of weighing scales for use with measuring and monitoring your weight, fat mass and lean mass. Once the scales have been properly set-up and linked to your laptop/PC/android phone etc, every time you weigh yourself on the scales they will automatically send out the data via Wi-fi to your linked device and plot your measurements on the online chart.
To be honest, the scales are an absolute doddle to set-up and get linked to your computer etc (much of the set-up process is shown in the attached video). The online guidance takes you through the entirety of the set-up, until you're good to go. And once it's all linked and the various users have their online accounts added (you can have up to eight recorded users), then it's just a simple case of weighing yourself regularly, and when you log in to your account you can see how well (or badly!) you've been doing.
For dieting and the like this is an absolute godsend. The scales appear to be surprisingly accurate, without many obvious fluctuations pointing to the data being a bit hit and miss. Over the first couple of weeks of use, both my wife and I found that we had become quite motivated to get our graphs looking better (like an idiot, I started to get quite competitive). The sheer ease of being able to see positive results after doing some regular exercise (along with healthy eating etc) is such a powerful tool in keeping you pushing on with a diet or simply getting yourself into better shape.
Oddly, what's quite surprising for such a modern piece of gadgetry is that there seems to be absolutely no encryption of your personal data which is duly linked to the Withings website in order for your data to be plotted. A little bit worrying as the set-up process asks for your name, date of birth, blah blah blah. So it's strongly recommended that you use a password that you haven't re-used elsewhere for logging on to see your data. You may also want to make slight changes to your DOB, say by changing the date by one day, merely for added security.
However, slight security issues aside (which it must be said are quite easily conquered), for following the progress of your body analysis data, these scales (and the associated online account and apps) is pretty darn top notch. It's incredibly easy to use, easy to access and follow the data (literally takes seconds to log on and see how you're doing) and is one hell of a motivator to keep up the good work.
There are also loads of additional online / social media / e-coaching options and all that junk that you can sign up to when you've created your account. If these are your sort of thing, then they're all there for you. For my wife and me, we're just happy seeing our data and laughing at how our graphs go berserk after Christmas and New Year's celebrations (note the date of posting this review!!!).
Personally I'd recommend these scales if you're reasonably serious about sticking to a weight loss or get-healthy regime. It's motivational, helpful, informative and (sometimes) fun. Okay, so they're not cheap. But if you're planning on getting something along these lines and you think you'll be serious about getting/staying healthy, then they might well be worth forking out that little bit more for.
