This review is from: Blues For Greeny (Audio CD)
Peter Green was a guitar genius, better than Clapton, who was called God by his followers. Clapton wasn't God, he was a technically clever player but, unlike Green, never sounded like he felt the blues, merely played them. Gary Moore is also a fine guitarist who replicates the musicianship of some of Green's best songs very well here (shame about the vocals though) and it's touching that he should dedicate a whole album to his hero. But why would you buy a copy of a masterpiece when you can just as easily own the original? So ignore this, buy Green's music and enjoy the one white man who really could play the blues like he knew what they were.

Surely the point is that most people who buy this album already have all the Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) albums and just want to hear Gary Moore's take on the songs! How can you, in all conscience, give this brilliant album just one star just because you're a die hard Peter Green fan!? Ridiculous! Peter Green WAS a fantastic, brilliant blues guitarist...but so was Gary Moore!....Mind you...then there's Rory!!! And what's with the Eric Clapton guff...What's this album got to do with him!!?

I agree with you, Gary Moore was a great guitarist, but surely Moore copying someone else's work can't be as good as his own. As to my Clapton comments, I was merely trying to provoke a debate with those who claim he's better than Peter Green. Incidentally, I also agree with your views on Rory G.

Complete codswallop. Moore is absolutely fantastic. His tone in this is amazing. I think its close to his best work. I'd hate to see your art gallery if you were a curator. You'd have one painting in it and single chair in front of it. You need to get out more.

The reviewer completely misses the point, using his argument why listen to Peter Green cover old blues classics when he was with Fleetwood Mac and the Blues Breakers - surely only the originals are valid? Why, because you want to listen to gifted musicians' interpretations and enjoy them for what they are and not make analytical comparisons. This is album is a pleasure to listen to and at the price of £3.99 a bargain.
