Customer Review

on 5 December 2009
Personally I would put this in the same league as All Quiet on The Western Front. There is more of a leaning to the futility and human element of war than in books on the same subject such as The Forgotten Soldier and Blood Red Snow. There is much less emphasis on combat situations so there isn't the same sense of danger you get from those other books. That said, there is plenty of combat narrative as well. In my view a real gem of a book that I suspect will continue to be adversely compared with the more blood and guts books by others. Very glad I found this book.
