Enjoyable but not gripping. KM's first two novels were easily her best. Nice plot though not original. Good opening and quirky ending which solved a few riddles for me but the middle part was rather stagnant and I was willing it to end. Parts of the story were certainly not seamless but I liked the plan - the story told through female characters over a time-span. One of the problems with a novel of this length is that the reader forgets/loses important details which mars the enjoyment of the plot. The story was tied up neatly in the denouement but was it a bit cheesey? Throughout the novel Dolly and Dorothy did not morph for me. Susan Challis wrote a novel on a similar theme but I'll say no more. Worth reading but you can skip some parts and it won't detract from the story.
