In short, this is probably not what you might have expected from a band that involves Jason Newsted, and that in no ways is a bad thing. It seems that Jason has used this opportunity to spread his wings creatively and it makes me think that maybe Lars and James should have listened to a few of his ideas rather than dismissing them as they did. Because it's their loss, this is quality stuff, very raw, at times very retro and essentially very good. The three members of this new band seem to have a natural chemistry. Very relaxed and bluesy, and in turn very creative. I love track ten, 'Cryin Shame'. Its mean and moody bassline just makes you want to chillout and groove. Same goes for 'Suckerpunch' with guest Kirk Hammett's ripping guitar solo. It's exactly what the track needed. And also the single,'Spoonfed' an excellent example of what to expect from this album, a definite blast from the tail end of the 60's and early 70's when rock music was experimenting with a bit of creativity and benifitting wholesale for it. Sit back, relax and let Echobrain remind you of how good and how natural music can be.
