Better and better,

This review is from: Lewis - Series Four [DVD] (DVD)
I had never seen the Morse series before I happened upon Lewis a couple of years back, so I have never tried to compare the two. The initial episodes I saw hooked me immediately with the beautiful Oxford scenery (I am an American who firmly believes that in Oxford the sky is always blue, the trees and shrubs are in full bloom and glorious bells always pealing), the delightful music, delicious plots and most of all the wonderful two leads, who create characters that are engaging, intelligent and believeable.
I felt like season 4 was a bit deficient in the banter between Lewis and Hathaway that I love, but still, a terrific set of stories. I look forward to season 5.
And one of these days, I should really get around to watching some of the Morse programs, so I understand what everyone is raving about...

Hi, Linda. You're missing out a lot by not having yet watched 'Inspector Morse'. If you believe that 'Lewis' is a great series (which I think doesn't come anywhere near its predecessor), you'll definitely find 'Morse' absolutely stunning, not least the views of the Oxford you're mad about! The whole series is currently available for less than 40 quid. What are you waiting for? Enjoy!

I think you are right. One of the local PBS stations (I'm in the US) has been airing Morse episodes weekly for the past month, and the three I have seen were pretty intriguing. Time to find more of these to enjoy.
Rather interesting comparing two series filmed 20 years apart (the Morses I have seen are from the 2nd season). The Thames Valley Police Department offices certainly were spiffed up for Lewis.....
Thanks for your comment.
