I loved Bellybuton and when Spilt Milk was due to be released I seriously doubted it was possible to make a better record than their debut. They did, and it was, in every way possible. I can't think of a more perfect album and no recording has given me as much enjoyment as Spilt Milk has. From production to the arrangements, lyrics, vocals and of course the songwriting Spilt Milk is without equal, a perfect, crystal-clear gem of a recording and I never ever tire of listening to it. The end of New Mistake is quite possibly the most perfect combination of sounds human beings have yet to commit to recorded media. I'd love to see a TV program where they dissect the original master tapes in the studio like they do with other classic albums. Alas Jellyfish were never popular enough.
PS - Roger Manning's Catnip Dynamite CD does contain some of the same magic. Its not the same but its the closest we'll get to a new Jellyfish album.
