In my opinion there are two critical factors when choosing a pair of headphones and those are sound and comfort, of course there are others which should also be involved (aesthetics, price etc.), but above all the headphones should sound good and feel comfortable.
I'll begin by discussing both of these factors. When wearing these headphones, the first thing that struck me was the clarity of the sound they emitted. The bass is thumping and they are more than suitable in that respect for dance/pop music. What is noticeable is that the bass doesn't distract from the melody and you are able to hear layers of instrumentals and vocals that you are unlikely to have noticed if listening through a cheaper pair of headphones. They are not closed and as such if you are in a noisy environment this will certainly distract from your listening pleasure, however they perform well in most ordinary circumstances and this is not a big deal.
On to comfort then and this, for me, is what lets the headphones down. Whilst they appear supremely comfortable with their velvety cushioned pads and similarly textured band, this is a little deceptive. The headphones exert, in my view, an uncomfortable amount of pressure on your ears. This is not as noticeable initially, however I found that after around an hour of continuous wear I didn't really want to keep them on any longer. The band too made the top of my head sore after a protracted period of use.
Having tried them for a couple of weeks, I switched back to my Bose AE2 Over-ear Headphones which are of *slightly* worse sound quality, but far superior comfort.
Aesthetically these headphones are undeniably pleasing, and price-wise they are in a similar range to other headphones of similar quality. The headphones are said to be specifically designed for Apple 'i' gadgets and to this end they are supplied with two headphone cables, one of which can be used to control your iphone/ipod/ipad's volume, allows you to switch between and even fast-forward/rewind tracks. A useful feature for anyone owning these gadgets and the controls seemed to work well.
Having read some of the other reviews, I understand that many buyers found the headphones comfortable and my issues may relate to shape of head, ears etc, however from personal experience I cannot award these headphones any more than three stars despite their quality build, great sound and easy-to-use controls.
