Customer Review

on 11 February 2014
It tells the story of a young Easterner wishing to learn about the newly opened up West. He travels on a buffaloe hunt into remote areas of the Colorado Rockies and takes part in the brutal slaughter of a whole herd of several thousand animals for only their hides. It removes the Holywood romantic veil of life in the West in its early days and depicts as it almost certainly was - "solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short".

While it describes the landscape of this existence well it falls short, in my opinion, of the portrait and I was left wondering more about the people depicted.
