Customer Review

on 9 August 2005
As with many reviews here this is a great book for collage/uni level of studies. If you're learning the craft then its a great book and can be read from cover to cover. My first gripe (and its a small one) is that it does not serve too well as a reference. Unless you have read it through a few times in order to find a specific bit of info you will find yourself skiming through an entire chapter to locate the info you're looking for. My second small quibble is that even though it breaks down the instruments and their specific abilities, colour etc. it does not cover orchestration of larger groups and combinations of instruments very well. Saying that its still a great book. Recommended for a read through and for reference after that.
