Sometimes it's just good to go back and read the classics from your childhood. I won't be divulging anything new by discussing the plot of this wonderful piece of work. Therefore, I shall rather speak of hte joy that comes from reading Hardy. It shouldn't really come as much of a surprise that this is a classic. I first read this piece of work when I was about 10. The rich language used and the vivid imagery drawn within the passages tranform you within the pages of the book. Given that it is a reflective social commentary I can, but only, recommend this book. I keep coming back to it from time and time again just like the other classics from this generations authors.
