Loved this film - not depressing at all,
This review is from: Le Week-End [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
My wife and I watched this film on blu-ray last night.
We both thought it was fantastic. Well written, beautifully acted, and at times laugh-out-loud funny.
Poignant and thoughtful, but I didn't for a second feel depressed.
As the main cast members stated in one of the extras, this is a grown-up film for grown-ups and with grown-up themes.
Lovely nods to classic french cinema (there's even a version of the film in black and white on the disc).
For context, I didn't like Zero Dark Thirty, hated 28 Days Later and was bored by the latest Star Trek reboot.
I loved Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, Quattro Stagioni, The Bicycle Thief and Inglorious Basterds.
It's a matter of taste, of course, but I think this film is great and I'm glad I watched it.
