this book had a great deal of hype surrounding it, so to be fair I did have some preconceived ideas about it beforehand. However, I was surprised to see just how well written as a story it was, the sexual content is almost overshadowed by the powerful emotions expressed by Melissa in her search for real love. It does duly have the fairytale ending you'd expect with a title like One Hundred Strokes of the Brush Before Bed, it was short and the pace fast but the diary format was perfect for events to unfold. A story that will hopefully break the sterotype of teenage girls, they are not all sweetness and light.
