Not normal!! Not good enough!! Not gonna make it!! BEST in the world!!!,
This review is from: WWE - CM Punk: Best In The World [DVD] (DVD)
I told everyone as soon as CM Punk entered the WWE he would be the one to watch. A friend of mine told me I don't think much of that Punk kid. Well how things change. Honestly if you are only going to buy one WWE DVD or blue ray get this one. CM Punk's story could not have been scripted better!!! It is a story you have to see and it is like a shot of adrenalin straight into the system. I kid you not I heard that there was going to be a 2 hour documentary and I thought I will forward through it and watch the wrestling bits. I have to watch wrestling late at night when the wife and kids are sleeping so I started watching it at 2am at 4am I was still wide awake and ready for more. This is probably the best wrestling documentary published since Beyond The Mat [DVD] or Wrestling With Shadows [DVD]. Punk and everyone's honesty is what make this special. Not everyone especially the higher up in the WWE was on board with Punk's arrival in the WWE, some though he could not live up the "King of the Indi" hype. A lot like the DVD itself, after watching all his great matches in the Indies could a WWE release do him justice believe me it does.
The DVD starts with Punk talking about his family life, from his blood family, to his adopted "real" family. Then goes into his reasons for going into wrestling, his single minded focus/obsession to be the best. On a side note Punk has been a world champion in every organisation he has been in except TNA. TNA is not mentioned in this DVD it is still a WWE release.
The DVD does talk about Punk's journey to the WWE. Through the Indi circuit, his great feuds ROH feuds that put his on everyone's radar. With all his ROH momentum he was still shipped off the OVW to develop the "WWE Style" of wrestling. There he met and made his biggest supporter in the wrestling business (who Punk does give full credit for his entrance and stay in the WWE).
Then Punk was brought back, but people were not sure if he was ready for the big league so they left him in ECW. The DVD has Punk and past and present WWE superstars talking about what they thought about Punk at that time, Punk himself talking about his frustration of being given title after title but still not getting the respect from the office and bookers. To doing the best segments on every show bust still not getting past the mid card and being passed over by other wrestlers who were not as talented, hardworking, or the complete package. He is baffled how some wrestlers were in the main event of Wrestlemania while the multiple time champ is in a filler match in the middle of the card.
The WWE gave Punk every opportunity to quit or go back to the indies but Punk refused, claiming he was not just going to get where he wants but change the industry as well. He refused to read written promos, he refused medication, he refused to be bullied, and he refused to be stopped. Punk made it paving the way for other wrestlers to break the mould, stutter the glass ceiling, break the 4th wall (his infamous live mike promos that had my friends running to me saying "did you hear what Punk did"). I cannot say enough good things about this DVD. I can't even say them as well as the DVD says them. The only wrestling story that is as inspirational is Positively Page: The Diamond Dallas Page Journey, the only book as honest is Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling. Punk might come across as arrogant and surly but that come from is belief in himself and he would not have made it this far without it. Also that is just the way he is Cm Punk is CM Punk inside and outside the ring.
Then after all this there are Punk's great matches in the WWE which speak for themselves. Buy this DVD you will not regret it.
