Highly praised and sure to be a collectable book (his previous title, Looking for Love, now sells for £400+). The photography is from two decades of riding the same public bus in Liverpool. The images start off in B&W, then burst into washes of glowing and delicate colours. Wood manages to deal with the reflections from the bus's glass windows well, and they give atmosphere and often become structural elements within the images. This is also a vibrant document of the poverty of the English working-class in a run-down industrial/port city during the years of Thatcher and Militant. Beautifully printed by Dewi Lewis, the UK's best photography publisher. I can't help wondering, though, quite how many photographs Wood had to take over twenty years to get this relatively small selection.
