This review is from: A Night in Tunesia (Audio CD)
Bought this since it was only 1p (+p&p), though couldn't find any reviews for "A night in Tunisia". Well now I know why - this is a repackaged product, there never was a Mile Davis release under this name. There is no information provided (at least not in my copy which didn't even have a brief booklet) as to when and where there recordings were made or who the contributing musicians were. Sticking the CDs into iTunes, CD 1 is given the album title "At the Royal Roost 1948, At Birdland 1950,1951,1953" and can be found on Allmusic. CD2 came up with album title of "Vintage Vinyl Collection". Searching Allmusic I found a 2CD set called "Vintage Vinyl Collection" with an identical track listing to both the CDs here. As to the quality of the recodrings, they are lisentable but not great. The tracks are simply a recording of old vinyl records, including all the backgroud noise you'd get from an old record. Simply sounds like someone connected a CD recorder to a record player. No post-production is evident to improve sound quality, remove noise etc or to normalise the volume accross all the tracks. As such I can't really recommend this to anyone, unless you really must have everything Miles recorded.
