Not as good as the earlier version,
This review is from: Creative Prodikeys PCMIDI Multifunction Keyboard (Electronics)
Tried out the original version of the Prodikeys in a store several years ago and loved it ... but just couldn't afford the £70 asking price at the time ... so when I got to the point of needing something to use with my MIDI and notation software it seemed a logical choice, particularly as this version was so much cheaper.
In use, the keyboard(s) work brilliantly, but there are niggles with both which, in my opinion, should have been ironed out.
The PC keyboard is OK, but is a half-way house between a full desktop keyboard and a laptop keyboard so it does not have the full range of travel that I like when typing - unlike the original Prodikeys which had desktop style key travel (and actually looked better for it as well).
The mini music keyboard is also very good, but a bit spongy. I don't expect miracles from a mini-keyboard, especialy at this price, but this one has a worse feel than my very first mini-key synth going back to the mid-1980s. Does the job, but I don't really enjoy doing it in the way I would if the keyboard was more of a pleasure to use.
Can't really score it lower than a 4, because it does the job I bought it to do very well indeed. It would just have been nice if it gave a more pleasant user experience while doing it.
