After Minato and his Sekirei helped Haruka and Kuno escape the Sekirei Plan, MBI steps up security to prevent anymore escapes, taking out any Ashikabi or Sekirei who tries. With the number of Sekirei without an Ashikabi declines Minaka prepares for the next stage of his plan while Minato manages to add another couple of Sekirei to his team. Meanwhile Yukari helps Shiina search for Kuu while Uzume is willing to do anything as long as it means her hospitalized Ashikabi continues to get treatment.

'Sekirei: Pure Engagement' is the second season of the Sekirei anime and continues with the mixture of action, comedy and fanservice as the previous season. This set includes all thirteen episodes of 'Pure Engagement' across two discs and also includes an OVA set between the two series. 'Pure Engagement' has a mixture of content from the original manga mixed with plots unique to the anime. Of the storylines in this series, the one that involves Homura finally finding an Ashikabi is the least changed from the manga with only the subplots that surround it changed. Other than this, the storylines have been changed somewhat, especially the final arc that revolvers around Uzume and her Ashikabi. The season also includes some information on the origin of the Sekirei as well as the first incarnation of the Discipline Squad and, from what I remember, this is pretty much as it was in the manga.

The animation of this season is as good, if not better than, that of the previous season and the choreography of the fights is good. The English dub of the season is reasonable with a mixture of good and not so good performances (the Japanese version is also included of course). The comedy in this season is nicely done and I must admit that it is probably my favourite part of the show. The fanservice is quite prevalent this season with a reasonably high amount of nudity and clothing damage. Due to this, I am sure that people who dislike such things probably wouldn't enjoy this series all that much.

Overall this second season of 'Sekirei' was quite entertaining despite the changes from the original manga. I feel that 'Pure Engagement' is just as good as the previous Sekirei series and anyone who enjoyed the original should also enjoy this one. 'Sekirei: Pure Engagement' deserves a solid four stars.
