Too much grind,
This review is from: God of War Platinum (PS2) (Video Game)
God of War has proved a huge disappointment. First and foremost, it suffers from very little progression - your weapons and 'magic' doesn't advance in any significant way. The monster elements also don't change significantly at all throughout the game. Add to this the fact that for much of the game you are repeatedly jumping around poorly conceived and laid-out platform sections, or pegging around unimaginative and unchanging scenery, which you are not able to interact with, and which is entirely one dimensional. This epitomises the worst possible grind imaginable in gaming (similar to the second Tomb Raider instalment for example)... The player perspective is also deeply flawed - so you find the camera angle flipping halfway through walking across a narrow beam, so all of a sudden you have fallen off because the movement engine has decided you're heading the wrong frickin' direction. Lame.
Overall the biggest disappointment comes from the fact that this could have been a much better game - the programming and lack of creativity show laziness and poor motivation behind the whole project....
