Customer Review

on 3 July 2003
The previous reviews were written by people who had never played the game, or if they had they must have played very early beta versions, since the game was not released in the US until 26th June. The game does not live up to the expectations, since a lot of the expected features were cut from the intial release. If you want to own a vehicle or a space craft you will have to wait for the next expansion and pay for the privilege.
That said, the game is a leap forward from the current generation of online roleplaying games. The world is huge, and despite the starting servers filling up rapidly, there is plenty of space to roam around without seeing another soul. The graphics are stunning. So far I have only explored the planet Naboo. I've seen (and been killed by) many creatures, all looking like they just stepped out of a Star Wars film, whether they were in a film or created just for this game. The vegetation is immaculately rendered, as is the water. The city of Theed is huge and the buildings impressive. I spent some time just watching the animations on my own character last night.
As someone who has only played Everquest before (by the same company), I don't have much to compare it to, and comparing it to Everquest is not fair on either game, since they are so different.
There's not much more I can say about the game. It's down to you to explore the many worlds and make a living in the Star Wars galaxy as best you can. As the saying goes "live long and prosp...", errr... "may the Force be with you!"
