Customer Review

on 8 March 2009
I had very high hopes for this game and for it to reach them is to say how good this game is.
Capcom have done a fantastic job in bringing this classic to the current gen consoles. All the characters look great and retain faithful to the old designs we know and love.
The gameplay though is where this game truly excels. I don't think I have played a game that is as accessible to new players as it is to old.
A group of my friends were together last night and decided to play this and everybody was hooked, many of them were Street Fighter sceptics but they absolutely loved it.
The combat is alot more forgiveable for new comers its easy to string combos together, the timing doesn't have to be so spot on like Street Fighter 3.
The new Focus Attack where you can absorb one hit and unleash a hit yourself is brilliant and once you discover the hidden depths to this feature you will become quite a force online.
Online is quite good I have only experienced lag in a couple of matches but overall the game runs very smoothly.
But my personal opinion this game is at its peak when you have a group of friends round, all watching and learning from each other. It doesn't get any better than that.

As much as I love this game there are some minor drawbacks.

The first one is a soon as you pretty much load the game up. The intro music is APPALLING it's sooooo dreadful I don't know why it was allowed to be included in this game, and they use it on the Main Menu as well.

The next is the anime cutscenes at the start and end for arcade mode. They are quite poor in quality and make little or no sense. It would have made much better sense if Capcom used the game engine to depict the story as they do when you fight your rival in arcade mode.

The main drawback though has to be the boss character Seth. He is so cheap and annoying its unreal. Where as everyother character is so finely balanced with each other Seth is ridiculously overpowered. Your first few battles with him will be frustrating ones. But you will soon find a way of beating him and will defeat him more often than not. I just think he feels out of place in this game. Unlike the other new characters which have lots to offer.

I do completely recommend this game. Buy it get your friends round and lose many hours becoming the perfect Streetfighter.
