I wanted another pair so I could hedge against my 560Rs getting damaged in the future, and also get a better mic/ control position from the 101s. When these 101s came up for less than £30, I thought it was time to pounce.
As another reviewer has mentioned, they sound tinny and the bass isn't anything to write home about. I'm happy without pounding bass, but on these the mids and treble are grating no the point of a headache, and without detail from the music. In contrast, the previous Denon model (560Rs) are warm as well as quite detailed. The 560Rs are also more sensitive, so are louder at lower volume setting. The 101s need about 20-25% higher volume setting.
I've played a continuous 'burn-in' track into these for about 36 hours now. If they don't sound any better after a further week's burn in then I'll sell them on.
