This review is from: Red Faction (PS2) (Video Game)
This game received a fair amount of attention during its development, partly due to its geo-mod engine. Did it live up to the hype?
Unfortunately, despite good (biased?) reviews in some PS2 specific magazines, it hasn't realised its potential.
The game never exploits the geo-mod engine to the full, and this was the one aspect that really could have made it stand out. Most other features are not done badly at all - hence a 3/5 rating - but often just scale the heights of the average, rather than excel in their field. PC owners who have experienced Deus Ex or Half Life will be aware of how good FPS games can actually be.
My advice is to get Half Life or perhaps the new Bond game, Agent Under Fire (if it turns out to be good). There are certainly worse games, but there are better ones too.
