Another excellent release from Britain's premier blues artists. Recorded in the early nineties, when the band had been together for just over a decade, this is in impressive tribute to the music that inspired the members. Each had an impressive career before the band was formed, and brought their experience and talent together to form an impressive musical unit. On this recording they gave it their all to do justice to a set of tunes that had originally set them on their musical path.
It's a grand journey through some old classics. The band do well at finding new ways to interpret what would otherwise be tired old standards. Especially impressive is Paul Jones solo reworking of the jazz standard `Work Song', belnding an impressive harmonica with his distinctive vocals. The rest of the band are no slouches either, and there is some classic material to be found here. A great album of reworked standards, with a variety of tempos and moods that will guarantee something here for everyone to enjoy.
