If there's one thing I have learnt is that if you buy cheap you'll buy twice. This is reasonably expensive but does a superb job and circulates heat and air very well, therefore it will use electricity being a 2.8kW heather but due to its heating and circulation technology gets the area up to hear hick and heat is maintained for a good amount of time.
You'll find other 2.8kW heaters that will use far more power trying to get the area you're heating to a constant temperature. I am running mine with a Bio Green Digitial Thermo 2 unit at 13°C and would say that during a the Jan / Feb or 2014 varying between 3°C int he night and 9°C in the daytime (bear in mind your greenhouse will be approx 1.5 - 2°C above outside temps). I am using about £1.50 of electricity a day (should you be on Economy 7 overnight you'll knock this down to nigh on £1 a day). I have spent a long time before buying this to see how much it would cost and no where would state this! very annoying to try and get some actual usage stats so I hope you find this useful.
If you want to know how much you're spending with the unit there's also a very simple calculation, forget buying power meter that tells you spend, you can simply do kW of unit (2.8) x hours used (4) x Cost per kWh (0.132) to give you 1.47.
I can vouch for the figures in the current temperatures being roughly correct as I am using several TFA dortmann temperature loggers to build a bigger picture. Superb heater and will last a lifetime looking at the build quality - also don't be afraid using water any where near it as it is IP54 rated!
