This review is from: Lenovo G505s 15.6-inch Laptop - Black (AMD A8 4500M 1.9GHz, 6GB RAM, 1TB HDD, AMD 7640g Integrated Graphics, DVDRW, Windows 8.1 Home Premium) (Personal Computers)
Firstly, this is a brilliant BUDGET laptop. It has a great spec and build for the price. But don't expect anything ground breaking here.
It runs Windows 8 perfectly, the lack of a touch screen shouldn't put you off (I find it more of a gimmick anyways), the operating system has taken more into consideration with people not using a touchs creen with the release of Windows 8.1.
I mainly use my laptop for work and casual gaming. It performs well for work, and surprisingly it isn't bad at all for gaming!!! The specification on Amazon isn't clear, but it doesn't really have integrated graphics, not like that of an Intel system at least. The processor has it's own integrated graphics and there is a discrete AMD HD 7640G in the laptop too. They work in dual graphics mode which means some relativly demanding games, like Dirt 3 run perfectly in medium settings. Sims 3 runs well with everything set to high. The laptop also stays relatively cool.
The screen is crisp, but due to the type, there is a problem with glare occasionally.
It's easy to boost the systems ram from 6 to 8 with ease and for little money. And when SSD drives come down in price this year (Looking at a 30% price drop) you should be able to fit one fine. This would set yourself up for a pretty fast machine which should be futureproof for the next 2/3 years.
One negative, the keyboard has a bit of give.
Great laptop, well built, very cheap.
