One Of The Best Transfers I've Ever Seen...And With Properly Great Extras Too... - "Back To The Future Trilogy" on BLU RAY,
This review is from: Back to the Future Trilogy [Blu-ray] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
*** A REVIEW OF THE 2010 and 2015 BLU RAY REISSUES OF THE "BACK TO THE FUTURE" TRILOGY on BLU RAY ***
There's little prepares you for the quality of the print on this Blu Ray reissue - it's absolutely gobsmacking. I've seen great restorations before ("Goldfinger", "North By Northwest", "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", "The African Queen", "The Italian Job", "To Kill A Mockingbird", "The Blues Brothers" and "To Catch A Thief" - see reviews for them all) - but this is exemplary.
The full run of extras is dealt with in detail in Amazon's thorough description above, but it's worth highlighting that among the superb new extras is Michael J Fox not afraid to show his present-day medical condition in the 6-part making-of that is spread across the whole set. There are contributions from almost all of the cast, Director Robert Zemeckis, Producer Steven Spielberg etc - and great on-set footage too. It's also been pitched at a reasonable price. In short, this is properly good value for money for 3 hugely entertaining films that don't seem to have dated at all.
I can only add to the chorus of approval for this - a fantastic presentation. Onwards and upwards to the "Indiana Jones" Trilogy and the remaining Bond films (which were all Lowry Digital Restorations and look as awesome as this)...

I'm in the US, but my wife and her family are from Brazil, so I"m always looking for good blu-rays with Portuguese language options so that my inlaws can better enjoy my home theater and to help improve my children's Portuguese. If you have the UK version of the Back to the Future Trilogy, could you please confirm that the movies have Portuguese subtitles and/or audio? I already have the US version and there is no Portuguese, but I see it is listed on Amazon UK, but unfortunately Amazon's disc info is not known for being too reliable. Thanks!

If this was one of the best you'd seen I hope you've watched a few more since. The BTTF release was visually mediocre at best.

Hi Mark, I already own the 4 DVD disc version and only the first film has featurette. Does the BR version has it on every movies? As I read something about it that the BR version would have it. I read that the 25th Anniversary Trilogy would have it. Is this the 25th Anniversary Trilogy version?

About the subtitles, can anyone confirm if this version has either Brazilian Portuguese or Portugal Portuguese? I'd appreciate it.

Can you give an example of a phrase of the movie and what you would except to see as translation, so I can check. i know for example that Spanish and Latino have the same basic, but some words mean totally different stuff in each language (just like the movie Frozen, ypu have the song SUELTALO for Spain and LIBRE SOY for Latino speaking region for the song LET IT GO in English).
I personally think it is Portugues, as first of all it is distributed by Universalictures of the UK.
And secondly, most of the other subtitles are european ones (except Japanese), so I assume it is a European release/region version disc.
Hopefully this helps you.

Dear Davidoff, thanks for your reply. I have to agree with you. It is probably Portugal Portuguese subtitles.
But whenever you have time to confirm for sure, I'd appreciate it very much.
On the scene in Part I when Doc says: "Next Saturday night, we're sending you back to the future!", the subtitle may show something like this:
- Portugal: "No próximo sábado à noite, vamos enviar-te de volta para o futuro!"
- Brasil: "No próximo sábado, mandaremos você de volta para o futuro!"
