Now this is a movie people will be talking about for years to come.
Julia Roberts plays Barbara, daughter to Violet played by Meryl Streep.
A tragedy strikes the family and Barbara is forced to come home, lets just say her and her mother dont get along so well.
What occurs during this tale is quite dark and serious and i cannot give you a synopsis without spoilers so im not going too.
Barbara has 2 sisters Ivy and Karen, karen played by Juliette Lewis, who is the flighty, needy one, Ivy is the stay at home and taking care of my parents one, and Barbara, well she couldnt wait to leave and has lived thousands of miles away from them for years.
It is quite interesting to watch the dynamics between the 3 women and their mother, each so different.
Meryl Streep will just blow you away, you are torn between wanting to have a go at her, to giving her a hug, to beating the crap out of her.
The cover art does give one of the most pivotal scenes in the film away but heyho.
The only negative for me was Benedict Cumberbatch, i dont know why they cast him at all. He was an odd choice, he seemed massively out of place and frankly out of his depth, he was outacted by everyone in the film, shame because i like him.
Chris Cooper, Ewan Mcgregor, Sam Shephard, Dermot Mulroney and Abigail Breslin play great supporting roles.
Dont think this is a guys movie however, so either curl up in your pyjamas by yourself with a bar of your favourite chocolate or invite some girlfriends over and just get lost in the story.
