This review is from: Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman (Kindle Edition)
I have read a large number of P&P sequels or variations and, for me, they fall into one of two camps: the better ones attempt to follow the style of Austen and provide an amusing, intellectually stimulating read, the weaker ones are either bosum heaving romps of the Mills and Boon variety or involve silly story lines.
This book starts very well with a gentle well thought out deviation from the original tale. It manages to retain much of what I found enjoyable in the original, good use of character, strong detail and excellent word play between Darcy and Elizabeth. But, three quarters of the way through it loses its way and becomes Mills and Boon, strong romance between the main characters is ok but towards the end the storyline becomes implausible and spoils, in my opinion, what could have been a very good book.
