Not the best FIFA (by far), but not the Worst. HONEST REVIEW IMO,
This review is from: FIFA 14 (PS4) (Video Game)
Okay, so lets start off with gameplay:
The gameplay seems fine and the graphics look good as you enter your first match. Players walk out, stadium is viewed a lot and the ref blows to start the game. You seem kinda pleased that the game is a bit more fluid, seems like your players move around the ball more, but then you try and make some creative passes... This fails, almost always. Yeah you can run down the wing and cross it all the time but that's boring IMO. So you've lost the ball and the opposition have control, you go in for the tackle and it may be successful or you may end up flat on your arse; either way, you're bound to have the ref blow his bloody whistle and call you over for a foul. The refs on this game are APPAULING and ANNOYING (sometimes I'd not touch the controller as i'm doing things off the PS4 and even be booked WITHOUT PRESSING A BUTTON), but EA have always had s***e refs since 09 to be honest. The shooting is quite decent actually, the ball seems to glide and dip more on this (some people dig that and some hate it, meh; marmite) and also more overhead kicks and special volleys take place on this game. One MAJOR FLAW about this game is that whether you're playing against CPU or Online, it is incredibly hard to take a shot that isn't blocked by the opposition. The opposition seems to block and intercept almost every move you do, which is downright stupid and annoying / predictable. Keepers also suck, had an ovr 83 in goal and he let in stupid goals, but the opposition's ovr 71 can save my shots just fine. Hmmm...
Looks and feels good, eye catching and vibrant, the game is quite beautiful. Players move and express their emotions with ease and impressive animation.
EA have removed some game modes and most importantly: removed some online vs matches, this sucks because FIFA is a team game that is incredibly fun to play with or against pals. Some of my best FIFA times have been playing with / against my mates. Shame really, EA let themselves down there. Career mode is decent, pretty much like '13 but a few more options. (Only problem is when you edit your player and save it, after a match it reverts back to the default you had before editing) Tournements are gone, this sucks big time. Divisions are a highlight though.
One last fault would be unrealistic player stats and OVRs. I mean, Messi injured for ages and still has 2 up from Ronaldo? I know he's like EA's mascot but come on, they said it was ''realistic'' and this is one of the most unrealistic FIFAs to date. Many teams over and underrated. Any difficulty mode past World Class is almost impossible and quite frustrating for even the most experienced players.
Overall: Not the best, but not the worst. Well, maybe not the worst anyway...
Opinion: 4/10 Rating.
Would i recommend: Urm, since it's the only next-gen football game on the market then if you're desperate for one then get it. But I'd suggest waiting 'til it drops in price as no way is it worth the £45+ price tag. So at the moment: No, I probably wouldn't.
Hope this helps. :-)
