The Journey of Lila Lee,
This review is from: Lemora: A Child's Tale Of The Supernatural [VHS] (VHS Tape)
LEMORA is a fascinating adolescent nightmare projected through a Lovecraftian prism. Set in the 1930's, the film follows Lila Lee(the late cult film Icon Cheryl 'Rainbeaux' Smith)as she searches for her father who has fallen into the clutches of the mysterious Lemora who lives in a forest populated by ghouls in a town with a diseased heart. Will Lila escape Lemora's vampiric ways? Will she be liberated from hypocritical religious dogma? Smith, only 17 at the time, is unforgettable in this film--possessing a kind of angelic beauty mixed with a ripening sexuality. Despite her youth she conveys a haunting depth in her portrayal of Lila Lee. Lesley Gilb is superb as Lemora, projecting beauty, creepiness and dark power all at the same time. Despite the lowest of budgets, director Richard Blackburn has made a timeless, surreal vampire film, inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft that is a must-have for horror fans and is deserving of a respectful collector's DVD release.
