Can't find a fault to this lens!,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Panasonic Lumix G 20mm/F1.7 Pancake Lens (Camera)
I can't find a fault to this lens apart from its slightly high price (although the current £50 cashback offered, which for me came in the post really fast, definitely helped) and can't really add to what previous reviewers have said about how great this lens is.
I used to have 50mm as my favourite focal length, but I'm really enjoying that extra width of this 40mm lens (talking 35mm camera equivalent here). For portraits, though, it starts to be a bit too wide if you're aiming for close-ups, as they'll look a bit unnatural -but it's ok from head and shoulders portrait length on.
The F1.7 aperture is great for lower light conditions or if wanting to separate the subject from the rest of the image by taking advantage of the so reduced depth of field. The downside is that it might often be too little depth of field, so for example in a portrait which is at a slight angle, you'd get only one eye in focus (not a problem if you're shooting a pirate or commoner wearing an eyepatch or the London 2012 Olympic mascot).
