I made up my mind not to comment on books unless they were written by someone who can really write. Rita Kramer is above and beyond being a good writer - she's great. This book is so well written - so well put together - many people reading it will envy her talent. Okay - it's about WW2 - it's about SOE - and lets face it there have been many, many of these - but Flames of the Field is different - it's a well researched acount of the infestigation into the lives and deaths of 4 agents who would have become consugned to the dustbin of history had iy not been for her hadr work and researched. She pulls no punches - watchout Frenchmen - particularly Parisians - you're in for a lashing - as are the Germans ("We were just following orders" - "We didn't know what was going on in the camps.) who even so long after the war should still hang down their heads in shame.
