Customer Review

on 8 April 2014
Having read the Transylvanian Trilogy by this author I had to read this too. Count Bánffy was obviously a most important person in post WW1 diplomacy for Hungary and his stint as foreign minister really rescued all that was possible of what Hungary had lost by being on the losing side in the war. Anyone interested in Yugoslavia, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Romania and diplomacy should read this wonderful first-hand account.
