This review is from: Nocturnal (The Noctalis Chronicles, Book One) (Kindle Edition)
Ava is dealing with a difficult situation, we are thrown in straight away with her finding out that her Mom's cancer is worse and she hasn't got long to live. Choosing not to tell her friends as she had such a hard time doing when she was first diagnosed, she chooses to deal with it her way, through her walks in the cemetery. Ava has a great relationship with her mother, her father not so much but there is one scene where I was in tears!!
It is the cemetery she first meets Peter & Ivan, one tries to kill her one saves her and her life is never quite the same again. But both are dangerous, they warn her as much, but she keeps going back. It is her cemetery after all she needs this place....
I couldn't read this quick enough, I was gutted I had to sleep, I am always in awe of an author who can build a relationship bit by bit, slowly like a jigsaw, barely a touch, yet keeping your interest as I was gripped. I ignored other things to read this today :-)
There was a scene at a party where her best friend describes it perfectly in the post party aftermath the next day! ( i won't spoil) yes it was so much more we were witnessing than a dance and a look!
When Peter said the word Mine I nearly melted and the first kiss well......Ava was teaching him to smile. It sure did make me smile and tug at my heart strings as well!
Alongside this relationship we have her school life and friendship with Jamie & Tex, Jamie who is dealing with some difficult situations, but we get some funny moments from Tex & Ava. I can' t wait for book two to see more from all the characters, this is beautifully written, has me gripped, wanting to know more about them all even the bad guy!
A Fan of Chelsea!
