american civil war (Alan Farmer),
This review is from: The American Civil War: Causes, Course and Consequences 1803-1877 (Access to History) (Paperback)
On oldish textbook recently expanded and turned into today's obligatory bullet-point form, but also with maps and photos.
This is a sound A-Level textbook, though the student would still need a full term to work through it.
It does make a fascinating subject come over as dull--a student did tell me. Also I'm not too keen on the "exam tips" sections: I think this is best taught by teachers, and the "tips" do seem a half-baked afterthought.
However very well laid out and unfailingly accurate. Farmer does know his subject.
