Customer Review

on 5 November 2005
Came across the author and book by chance after looking for an update on Erikson and Martin's new books. Glad I found this one, excellent, awesome characters, great plots and background details. R Scott Bakker fits perfectly between the other two great fantasy writers of the current time (Erikson and Martin) his political intrigues and plots within plots are very Martin like but he also includes a very dark sinister element involving gods and sorcery that you would normally associate with the Erikson's Malazan books.
However this book is not an easy read because of the amount of information that you are bombarded with in the first couple of chapters but if you stick with it you will be rewarded with a magnificent novel.
