Worth taking the time to get to know it,
This review is from: Sony Xperia L SIM-Free Smartphone - Black (Android) (Electronics)
It took me a long time to decide whether to go for this phone and I must admit to having scoured various tech review sites before deciding it was the one to take out on contract with my provider. Two years is a long time to be stuck with a phone so I wanted to make sure I made a good choice.
When I received it, I was initially disappointed as I didn't seem to be able to get along with the touchscreen. I had previously owned another Sony smartphone so was surprised at the difference between it and this new screen. When using my finger it seemed overly sensitive, clicking on and selecting apps that I didn't want, threatening to dial random people in my contacts list. I then discovered that by using my thumb, I could overcome this problem and that I could get along with the touchscreen very well.
I know some people have reported problems getting the rear casing off but I haven't had any problems and have found it easier to remove than my previous phone's casing. It would have been nice if Sony could have made the SD card hot swappable but they haven't but that's a minor issue to deal with as I doubt I or anyone else will be removing their SD card very often.
The phone looks stunning and images on the screen are beautiful. Its dual core processor is fast (faster than a quad core in a side-by-side test using iPlayer at home) and hasn't let me down with anything I've thrown at it. The camera works well and has a nice dedicated shutter button and some good effects available.
After an initial few hiccups using the touchscreen, I have found this to be a great phone, easy to use and with great features, including a super camera. I just hope I remain this happy over my contract term ...
